Our Philosophy

A Personalized Addiction Treatment Plan

We base our clinical approach on Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics. This model provides “a developmentally sensitive, neurobiology informed approach to clinical problem solving.”

At True North, we’ve created an outstanding evidenced-based therapeutic program. We’ve combined standard therapeutic practices with the latest techniques in neurobiological research to create the most robust program. The backbone of our clinical approach is rooted in Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT). Most of the research surrounding the efficacy of NMT evaluates adverse experiences on a developing brain. In essence, NMT is a model that analyzes neurological problems and suggests developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions. NMT is a roadmap to help suggest which therapeutic modalities might be most effective for the circumstances of each individual client.

This approach provides a lens, a roadmap, that helps direct treatment on an individual basis within a trauma informed framework for the recovery of addiction. Dr. Perry asked “What happened to you?” -so our program looks at it too. In order to support your 360 degree experience we know where you’ve come from is a significant factor in all that is happening in your mind. We believe relational health can become the conduit to healing. A balance between lived experience and clinical approaches combine to provide you with complete coverage of your unique or complex situation.
